Dateline January 2004 – Roundtables of Expertise - City Council approved the establishment of the Roundtable on Access, Equity and Human Rights, Disabilities Issues Committee and Aboriginal Affairs Committee, continuing working groups on employment equity, hate activity elimination, immigration and refugee issues, language equity and literacy, and considered the reestablishment of the Status of Women Committee and the Sexual Assault Implementation Advisory Committee.

Dateline April 2004 – Assisting Newcomers - City Council approved the request to the federal and provincial governments to increase funding for language instruction for newcomers.

Dateline May 2004 - Designing a Barrier-Free Toronto - City Council endorsed design guidelines that are intended to help make Toronto a barrier-free city. The accessibility design guidelines can be used by the City and other organizations to conduct accessibility audits and guide the planning, design and construction of facilities that are accessible to people with disabilities.

Dateline June 2004 – Supporting a Diverse Toronto - City Council approved funding of $574,000 in support of 68 applicants in phase one of the 2004 Access and Equity Grants Program. The projects and programs that have qualified for funding all promote positive race relations and foster respect for Toronto's multicultural, multiracial character.

Dateline February 2005 – Designing for Accessibility - City Council approved the status report on the Accessibility Design Guidelines and distributed them to all building permit applications larger than a single family house.

Dateline February 2005 – Supporting vulnerable Torontonians - City Council approved the development of a comprehensive plan to improve support for the large number of Toronto residents living in poverty. Among the City's goals is to assist vulnerable Toronto residents, notably single parents, to obtain jobs that will move them out of poverty.

Dateline February 2005 – Action Planning for Equity - City Council approved the Access, Equity and Human Rights Action Plans, 2004 - 2006 developed by City divisions. The City's Agencies, Boards, Commissions and Corporations were directed to apply the Action plans in the preparation of their own respective access, equity and human rights plans.

Dateline April 2005 - Recognizing Undocumented Workers - City Council adopted the Notice of Motion to request the Federal Minister of Citizenship and Immigration to recognize Undocumented Workers as essential to the Toronto and Canadian economy and consider normalizing their legal status.

Dateline October 2005 - Metropolis Congress in Toronto - City Council hosted the 2005 five-day Metropolis Congress attracting delegates from more than 45 countries. The annual summit provides an opportunity for comparative research and public policy development on population migration, cultural diversity, and the challenges of immigrant integration in cities around the world. Metropolis is a forum for policy-related research and networking on the effects of immigration and settlement in urban centres.
